Karma Theory

Basically we should know what is karma theory? It is ‘the law of cause and effect’. In fact the Newton’s principle that every action produces an equal and opposite reaction is just an extension from the Karma theory. It is such an integral part of our Hindu Philosophy that not only the astrologers or the learned people but common people should know of its importance and the acknowledge it.
Every person is responsible for his or her acts and thoughts, so each person’s Karma is entirely his or her own. How people treat you is their Karma and how you react will be yours.
Hindu Philosophy which believes in life after death, holds the doctrine that if the Karma of an individual is good enough, the next birth will be rewarding, if not, the person might devolve and degenerate into a lower life form. In order to achieve good Karma it is important to live life according to Dharma or what is right.
Therefore, Karma Theory mainly depends on 3 pillars and they are
Reincarnation or Rebirth
Inescapable tendency to do Karmas
Fruits of the past actions that are yet to be enjoyed /suffered.
We can henceforth categorize Karma into three categories:
1. Satvik Karma
2. Rajasik Karma
3. Tamasik Karma

SATVIK KARMA

Satvik karma is a karma which is done without any attachment and is selfless and is of the benefit to others. A satvik works with peace in his mind.

RAJASIK KARMA

It is a type of karma which is selfish in nature and the focus is on the gains for oneself.

TAMASIK KARMA

It is undertaken without paying heed to consequences and is supremely selfish and savage in nature. Man inevitably enjoys the good or bad results of his Karmas, unspent they do not decrease even in eons. Without reincarnation and rebirth, there can be no astrology.
Astrology is merely reading the Karmic pattern which has a link with the past life and also with the future life.
Our Karmas can also be classified into the following 3 categories based on how we experience the Karmas. They are,
Sanchita Karma
Prarabhda Karma
Agami Karma

SANCHITA KARMA

These are the Karma’s that have already been performed and the results are waiting to be enjoyed in the present birth. This Karma is an accumulated Karma of past so many births. Nobody can escape this karma without experiencing its results. Sanchita karma’s are the ones that link us with fate and shows us our way to destiny.

PRARABDHA KARMA

Prarabdha Karma are the part of Sanchita Karma, a collection of past karmas, which are ready to be experienced through the present body.If the Sanchita Karma of a person is good,he will enjoy good results or else he will have to undergo the bad results of his Karma. In any given horoscope the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th houses show Prarabhda Karma.

AGAMI KARMA

Agami Karma is that Karma that is being contemplated and will be performed in future. If good deeds are performed now, then our Agami Karma (which will be done in future) will be good. In any given horoscope the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the 4th houses indicate Agami Karma.
So then, a question arises. How are the results of these Karmas being experienced?
Based on how we experience our Karma, they are classified into:
Dridha Karma
Adridha Karma
Dridha-Adridha Karma

DRIDHA KARMA

Dridha Karma as the name suggests is that karma that is fixed. Nobody can escape Dridha Karma. The good or bad results have to be experienced without any alteration or changes. A person experiences these Karmas during the Dasha and Bhukti periods.

ADRIDHA KARMA

Adridha Karmas are those that can be altered and made bearable by taking timely actions with the help of a learned scholar. These karmas are not fixed and can be dealt with under the guidance of a learned person. A person experiences these karmas during the Gochara period.

DRIDHA-ADRIDHA KARMA

Dridha-Adridha Karmas mainly depend on the planetary positions. They may or may not be experienced.
Lord Krishna in Bhagavad gita, “To the man thinking about the objects (of the senses) arises attachment towards them; from attachment, arises longing; and from longing arises anger. From anger comes delusion; and from delusion loss of memory; from loss of memory, the ruin of discrimination; and on the ruin of discrimination, he perishes”.
